The
second "evolution" of Tamiya's
TB Evolution shaft driven chassis series was released in 2001, only one
year after the original. At first glance, it is virtually the same
model with very few visible differences, and in fact all of the plastic
parts trees used in the Evo II were carried forward from the original
Evo. So why bother with the new model? The most significant
changes are the machined aluminum parts, not the plastic parts.
The prior plastic bulkheads with integrated suspension mounts were
replaced with aluminum bulkheads with separate aluminum suspension
mounts. The plastic camber links were replaced with more
traditional threaded rods. The custom splined universal axles were
replaced with CVDs with standard hexes and cross pins. There were
also subtle changes to the dampers, and the cool wheels and sticky
tires were replaced with standard dish wheels and slicks.![]() Page 1: Unboxing |
