RC4WD Blazer Project
Page 1:  RTR Original
This model uses the same Trail Finder II chassis as my Toyota Land Cruiser 70 which I already documented in detail.  See that page, for more information about the build of the chassis.

I generally hate RTRs but, as explained on the previous page, there was just no
cost effective reason to do anything else with this model.  My goal
was to make it substantially different from what came in the box so it
would be my own.  Shown above is the stock model.  The body
comes pre-assembled and painted except that the bumpers are not
attached.  This is a real RTR in that it comes with everything you
need including battery, charger, transmitter, and batteries for the
transmitter.  This is actually a decent 3 channel transmitter.  Of course I immediately changed the
receiver so I could use my Spektrum DX6R.  The body was removed,
carefully packed, and sold to a needy R/C addict for a pittance.
What drew me to this RTR chassis was not the completeness of the
electronics, but the completeness of the chassis.   The
standard Trail Finder 2 has metal chassis rails and axles along with
leaf springs.  This version adds dual scale front shocks, a scale
steering stabilizer, metal beadlock wheels with hubs and, most
importantly, the otherwise expensive scale V-8.  The engine
surrounds the 540 motor and sits in the correct location up front with a
scale transmission housing and transfer case.
